Patient Instructions for Medication Requests
The medication questions and requests for additional medication from our patients are important issues that are taken very seriously by our physicians and staff. Please consider the following policies so that we may better serve you.

  1. If you need a refill on your medication please allow 2 business days for us to respond to your request. Please contact your pharmacy to request your medication and they will contact us to refill your medication . Please continue to contact your pharmacy to check the status of your request. Repeated calls to check on the status of your request will only delay the process.
  2. If you contact our office for a medication refill after 1:00 p.m. on Friday your request will be addressed the following Monday.
  3. If you require a written prescription please allow 3 business days for the prescription to be prepared. You may contact our medication nurse at ext. 225 to request the medication. After the physician has reviewed the prescription request you will be contacted and advised the status of that request. At that time the nurse will advise you if the request has been authorized and if so, the date the prescription can be picked up or mailed. Repeated calls to check on the status of your request will only delay the process.
  4. Medications will not be refilled if a patient continues to miss scheduled appointment.
  5. All patients must be seen by their physician a minimum of every 60 days to continue to receive narcotic medications.
  6. Medications will not be refilled on the weekends.
  7. If you have had surgery at Orthopedic Associates Ambulatory Surgery Center and have problems with the medication you were given immediately after your surgery or are experiencing nausea uncontrolled by over the counter medication please call 947-5610 and ask for recovery. Your questions will be addressed by the nurses at that time.
